What do I do after the accident?
- Notify the police immediately.
- Do NOT admit liability, or discuss your accident with anyone except the police and your insurance company.
- Write down the names, addresses and license numbers of persons involved along with any witnesses.
- Report the accident to your insurance company as soon as possible.
- Contact the shop of your choice and have them tow the vehicle to the shop if it is undrivable.
- The collision center will assist you with your insurance claim.
What I need to know before having my vehicle repaired?
- Never drive a car that could be unsafe because of damages.
- You are not required by law to obtain multiple estimates.
- Your vehicle is one of your largest investments. Have it repaired properly by professionals.
- A professional shop will explain the entire repair process.
- Read and understand your insurance policy. Ask your agent to explain your coverage.
- You have the right to take your vehicle to the shop of your choice. Your insurance company cannot require you to go to a particular shop.
- Differences in repair estimates are common. A lower estimate may not include all the necessary parts and repairs. Ask why the estimates are different.
